What does beeswax do on the skin?

It turns liquid oils into a solid cream, a salve or a stick, and leaves a thin, partly permeable film on the skin that reduces water evaporation. Beeswax brings no water of its own; the film does most on slightly damp skin. In the ingredient list it appears as Cera Alba. Our beeswax is Bioland-certified and comes from northern Germany. What are beeswax salves and creams good for?

For dry, rough and cracked areas that need a noticeable film: hands, heels, elbows and knees. They do not belong on open or broken skin.

• Bee salve: in the glass jar or the 150 g tin. Olive, almond and castor oil with beeswax, larch resin and propolis; essential oils of mandarin, rosemary and fir bring fragrance components such as limonene and linalool. As a thin layer overnight, also for dry lips.
• SOS pitch salve: in the glass jar or the tin, made only from olive oil, larch resin and beeswax; the resin brings terpenes such as pinene, which are listed individually in the ingredients. For very dry, rough areas, hard skin and calluses. It is not a drawing salve: Pitch salve or drawing salve?

Hand cream and other creams with beeswax

Our solid hand cream with beeswax has five ingredients, beeswax first, and no added fragrance. Everything about it, plus the vegan version, is in Solid hand cream.

• Feet: solid foot cream Rosemary & Sage, with essential oils and therefore linalool, limonene and geraniol
• Lips: Lemongrass lip balm with lemongrass oil, which brings citral, citronellol and geraniol, and Almond & Vanilla lip balm SPF 15 without essential oils
• Body: solid body butter with cocoa and shea butter
• Sun: solid sunscreen SPF 50, which the wax gives its shape
• Everything together: the protection set for dry hands, feet & lips

Beeswax cream on the face?

Possible, but try it on a small area for a few days first. There are no reliable, generally valid figures on whether beeswax encourages blackheads; how your skin responds depends on the whole formula. On the face, a very thin layer is enough. Testing new skincare on a small area

Beeswax or candelilla wax?

Beeswax is an animal product. The vegan alternative is candelilla wax from a Mexican shrub. It is harder and more brittle, so a formula usually needs less of it, and the two waxes cannot simply be swapped. Both leave a film that reduces evaporation. Allergies and scent

Allergies to beeswax itself are very rare. The salves, however, also contain larch resin, and the bee salve propolis as well.
