Solid hand cream – water-free, with beeswax or vegan

What is a solid hand cream?

A hand cream without water: plant oils, butters and wax that are solid at room temperature and soften on warm skin. Because it contains no water, it needs neither an emulsifier nor a preservative, and a small amount is enough. It leaves a thin film on the skin that protects it from drying out. With beeswax or vegan?

• Solid hand cream with beeswax: organic beeswax with olive and sunflower oil, St John's wort and aloe vera extract. No added fragrance; it smells only slightly of beeswax.
• Solid hand cream Bergamot: vegan, with candelilla wax instead of beeswax, plus jojoba, olive and hemp oil and shea butter. It smells of lemon and bergamot from essential oils.

How to apply it

Rub the cream briefly between your hands or stroke the tin over the dry areas. Body heat softens it, then massage it in thinly. It helps most after washing your hands and in the evening. If your hands stay dry anyway, see Dry hands despite moisturising.

How long does a tin last, and how does refilling work?

The 30 g tin lasts for about 200–280 applications. When it is empty, press a refill with the same cream into the tin: beeswax refill or bergamot refill. Step by step: Refilling with the refill.

In summer and on the go

The oils soften in warmth; the wax only melts well above 60 °C. Cream that has gone soft is not spoiled: let it set again somewhere cool and do not keep the tin in the car. What applies to hand luggage is explained in Solid cosmetics in hand luggage.
