SOS Pitch Salve - Larch Resin in a Glass Jar

For very dry, rough and cracked areas: on heels, elbows and hands and on hard skin and calluses. The water-free salve leaves a film of oil, wax and resin on the skin that protects it from drying out, and the olive oil keeps rough areas supple. It is a cosmetic product and should not be applied to open or broken skin.

Because it contains tree resin, which is traditionally called “Pech” (pitch) in the Alpine region; that is why it is also known as larch pitch salve, larch resin salve or resin salve. A small amount is enough. Take it with a clean, dry fingertip, warm it briefly between your fingers and rub a thin layer onto the dry areas. A film remains; that is intended. Ideally in the evening: on hands and feet, you can wear cotton gloves or socks afterwards.

The salve contains larch resin and beeswax. Larch resin is not colophony, but it is used as an additional test substance in studies on colophony allergy. If you are allergic to colophony, tree resin, balsam of Peru or fragrances, check with a dermatologist or allergist before use. The pitch salve consists only of olive oil, larch resin and beeswax. The Beeswax Salve Larch & Mandarin also contains almond and castor oil, propolis and essential oils of mandarin, rosemary and fir, so it smells different and more distinctly. The 50 g jar lasts for approx. 80–100 applications, depending on how much you use. How long the salve keeps after opening is stated on the packaging. As it contains no water, it is mainly the oils that can age over time: if it smells clearly of old oil, replace it. Only take it out with dry, clean fingers and store it somewhere cool and dry, out of direct sunlight.
