Suddenly plastic? Why we rely on the reusable system

It's practically unheard of for us: plastic packaging. For good reason, as there's a huge global problem with plastic waste! The fact that we are now, nonetheless, relying on a PET bottle, and doing so with complete conviction, is thanks to a revolutionary change brought about by zerooo.

The choice between glass and plastic has never been easy in the context of sustainability. Here, environmental damage from plastic waste and high CO₂ emissions from glass stand in opposition. While glass packaging avoids the waste problem, it requires about six times more energy than plastic due to its energy-intensive production and recycling at temperatures up to 1,600 degrees Celsius.

And in terms of transport and safety, plastic also performs better: because the lighter and more break-resistant packaging is CO₂-saving in transport, safer to use, and often more durable than the fragile glass versions.

What has changed with zerooo bottles? The PET bottle is part of a reusable system! The new PET deposit bottles are simply returned to vending machines after use, collected, cleaned, and refilled. This eliminates two major challenges: waste is minimized, and the energy required for recycling is reduced.

When a bottle reaches the end of its reusable cycle, the sustainable journey continues: It is collected during the cleaning process and, thanks to the pure material, reprocessed into new, equivalent products. This creates a practically endless cycle that minimizes waste and emissions.

With this reusable concept, we contribute to further reducing the ecological footprint of our packaging. As soon as your Aloe Vera Serum is empty, you can now easily return the deposit bottle to Budni, Müller, Edeka, REWE, and Globus self-service stores, as well as some unpackaged stores.
