Natron neutralises odour right where it forms.

Sweat itself is odourless — it's only the bacteria on your skin that break it down and produce the typical odour compounds. Natron neutralises these chemically, without blocking your sweat pores. In our Deocreme Sensitiv it pairs perfectly with potato and corn starch.

Active in detail

A mineral home remedy with a long tradition

Natron (sodium bicarbonate, NaHCO₃) is one of the oldest home remedies we know — used in the kitchen, for cleaning and in natural cosmetics. Its alkaline nature neutralises the acidic compounds that form when skin bacteria break down sweat.

Skin-type check

Which skin is Natron right for?

Natron is gentle but alkaline — with very sensitive skin, ease into it slowly.

N
Normal skin Top
Very well tolerated, ideal in deodorant creams.
O
Oily skin Top
Regulates pH and neutralises odour.
B
Blemished skin Top
Its antibacterial nature can help.
C
Combination skin Mit Bedacht
Well tolerated at a normal dose.
S

Can be too alkaline and may dry the skin out.
Science & care

How does Natron work on the skin?

Three mechanisms that make Natron a natural home remedy.

01

pH neutralisation

Acting as an alkaline, it balances out the acidic odour compounds from the sweat-and-bacteria breakdown.

02

Mildly antibacterial

An alkaline environment slows the growth of odour-forming bacteria.

03

Mildly abrasive

A very fine powder — it can gently clean by mechanical action (e.g. in exfoliants).

Glossary

Sodium Bicarbonate
The English INCI name — chemically NaHCO₃.
pH value
A measure of acidic/alkaline. At pH 8.3, Natron is slightly alkaline.
Home remedy
A tradition passed down for generations — proven in natural cosmetics too.
Antiperspirant vs. deodorant
Natron neutralises odour (deodorant), it does NOT block sweating (not an antiperspirant).
Aluminium-free
Natron is the mineral alternative without aluminium compounds.
Abrasion
Mechanical cleaning by fine particles — Natron is well suited to gentle exfoliants.
