Aloe Vera Soap – Rosemary & Lemon

Yes, if your skin is happy with it. Soap is alkaline; after washing, the pH of your skin rises for a while and returns to normal within a few hours. Lather the soap in your hands, keep it away from the eye area and rinse thoroughly. If your skin feels tight or flaky afterwards, use it on your face less often or not at all. You can, but soap behaves differently from shampoo in hair. It is alkaline and forms a deposit with the limescale in hard water that can make hair look dull. It works more easily with soft water, and an acidic rinse afterwards is usually part of it, for example one tablespoon of vinegar in a litre of water. With very hard water or bleached and coloured hair, a shampoo is often the simpler choice. More in washing hair with soap

No perfume is added. The scent comes from essential oils of rosemary and lemon; they bring limonene, pinene, camphor, beta-caryophyllene, citral, terpineol and linalool into the soap. These are listed individually in the ingredient list. We cannot promise that it suits every skin: if you react to fragrances, check the list before you buy and test the soap on a small area first. Every soap also removes some fat from your skin as you wash, and soap is alkaline. On dry skin it can therefore leave a tight feeling. It helps to wash with lukewarm water, use little soap, rinse thoroughly and apply some care straight afterwards while your skin is still slightly damp. The list names the starting materials. To make bar soap, sodium hydroxide is dissolved in water (aqua), and this lye saponifies the oils. A properly made and cured soap no longer contains any free lye; part of the water evaporates as the soap cures, and some stays in the bar. Aloe vera appears further down as an extract. A 75 g bar lasts for approx. 6–8 weeks, depending on how often you use it and how dry it stays between uses. Soap that sits in water goes soft and gets used up faster. How long it keeps is stated on the packaging.

Rinse the bar briefly after washing, let it drip off and put it down out of the shower spray where air can reach it from all sides: on a ridged or slatted soap dish or on a magnetic holder.
