Lather
Wet your hands and the soap and work up a lather. Massage it in with light pressure and circular movements, on your hands or your body, not on your face.
Rinse
Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water, including the coffee grains in the shower or basin. Then put the soap down where it can dry all round.
Apply care
Afterwards apply some care while your skin is still slightly damp. On the body, about once a week is enough for the scrub, less often if your skin is dry.

How often can I use the scrub soap?

A soap with grains is too strong for every hand wash: soap and friction together can dry the skin out further. It is useful when dirt sits in the lines of your hands after gardening or workshop jobs. On the body, about once a week is enough, less often if your skin is dry. For daily washing, use a soap without grains. More in hand scrubs for dry hands

Can I use the scrub soap on my face or hair?

It is not meant for the face; use a soap without exfoliating grains there, for example the Aloe Vera Soap – Lavender. It is not very practical for hair, because the coffee particles have to be rinsed out again. More in can I use bar soap on my face?

When should I skip the scrub?

When your skin is cracked, stings or has had too much sun: exfoliating then removes part of the horny layer that your skin needs as protection. The soap does not belong on broken skin. A scrub removes loose flakes from the surface but does not change the dryness itself, so applying some care afterwards is part of it.

Does the soap contain fragrance?

No perfume is added. The scent comes from essential oils of orange peel and bitter orange; they bring limonene, pinene and linalool into the soap. These are listed individually in the ingredient list. We cannot promise that it suits every skin: if you react to fragrances, check the list before you buy and test the soap on a small area first. Why are aqua and sodium hydroxide in the ingredient list?

The list names the starting materials. To make bar soap, sodium hydroxide is dissolved in water (aqua), and this lye saponifies the oils. A properly made and cured soap no longer contains any free lye; part of the water evaporates as the soap cures, and some stays in the bar. Aloe vera appears further down as an extract. Unlike solid creams, bar soap is therefore not a water-free product. More in is there still lye in natural soap?

How long does a bar of soap last?

A 75 g bar lasts for approx. 6–8 weeks, depending on how often you use it and how dry it stays between uses. Soap that sits in water goes soft and gets used up faster. How long it keeps is stated on the packaging.

How do I store the soap so it does not go mushy?

Rinse the bar briefly after washing, let it drip off and put it down out of the shower spray where air can reach it from all sides: on a ridged or slatted soap dish or on a magnetic holder. For travelling there is a soap tin with a drainage grid; let the soap dry before you pack it. Store spare bars wrapped, somewhere cool, dry and dark. More in why bar soap goes mushy
