Why we use titanium dioxide and zinc oxide:
For reliable UVA and UVB protection, there is currently no effective mineral alternative to the combination of zinc oxide and titanium dioxide. Zinc oxide is especially effective in the UVA range, while titanium dioxide gives stronger protection against UVB rays – together they provide comprehensive protection.

But: we deliberately use no nanoparticles.
Our sunscreen contains titanium dioxide and zinc oxide in non-nano form. And from our point of view that is the key point. Nanoparticles can potentially be harmful to health when inhaled – e.g. via sprays. That is why we deliberately go with a solid formulation. It cannot be inhaled the way a spray can, which rules out uptake through the airways.

The German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR) also confirms that titanium dioxide is not absorbed through the skin – and that is the main way sunscreen is used.

The consumer advice centre Verbraucherzentrale NRW also recommends mineral sunscreens with natural cosmetics seals such as NATRUE or COSMOS, which use only non-nano zinc oxide and titanium dioxide.

Our Aloe Vera Serum has just 4 ingredients — aloe vera juice, potassium sorbate, sodium benzoate and citric acid — and skips thickeners, parabens and chemical additives. Our aloe vera comes from sustainable farming in Andalusia, Spain. We're particularly careful that the aloe vera juice isn't processed into powder. Instead, it stays in its liquid, untreated form to preserve the plant's natural properties.

If your Zeroo bottle with pump dispenser arrives and it seems like the pump isn't working, here are a few simple tips to help you out:

1. Gently turn the head of the pump 180 degrees to release the lock. Then try pressing the dispenser down. Repeat this 2–3 times, always stopping right near the 180-degree turn.
2. If that doesn't work, unscrew the pump from the bottle and hold the thicker, transparent part just below the screw cap so it can't turn along with the head. Turn the head of the dispenser and then press it down. (See step 1.) This should work after 1–2 turns.
