Skincare for dry & sensitive skin
Dry or sensitive skin does not need as many ingredients as possible. It needs care that matches what the skin currently needs. If your skin lacks moisture, a water-based serum can be useful. If it feels rough or tight, oils, waxes and butters can add a richer layer of care. If you want to avoid fragrance or essential oils, check the ingredient list carefully.
Here is a simple guide to choosing forpeople care by skin need.

Dry skin and sensitive skin are not the same
Dry skin mainly describes a condition in which the skin lacks moisture and/or lipids and may feel rough, flaky or tight. Sensitive skin can react more quickly to certain ingredients or external influences. Both can occur together, but they do not have to.
That is why there is no single best cream for sensitive skin. What matters is what your skin currently needs and which ingredients you want to use.
If your skin lacks moisture
A waterless cream is made from oils, butters and waxes and adds very little water itself. If your skin mainly feels dehydrated and tight, you can start with a water-based product. Our Aloe Vera Serum 99.6% contains four ingredients. If needed, follow with a thin layer of oil or solid care.
If your skin mainly feels dry and rough
For rough skin, lipids and a richer layer of care are often the focus. Our solid creams contain no added water, so you usually need much less product than with a conventional cream from a tube.
For hands, there is the Solid Hand Cream – Beeswax without essential oils. The Solid Foot Cream – Rosemary & Sage is made for dry heels and the soles of the feet. It contains essential oils.
Which ingredients should I choose for sensitive skin?
A short ingredient list can make products easier to assess, but shorter is not automatically better. What matters is which ingredients you want to use and how your skin responds to a product. When trying new skincare, start with a small amount on a small area.
See our Sensitive Skin collection for a selection.
Body oil or body lotion for dry skin?
A body lotion contains water and therefore adds moisture. Body oil contains no water and is best applied to slightly damp skin. Which option fits better depends on what your skin needs.
If your skin is dehydrated, a lotion or a combination of serum and oil can be useful. If it mainly feels rough and lacks lipids, an oil or waterless care can be an option.
A simple routine for dry skin
- Cleanse gently and avoid very hot water.
- If your skin needs moisture, apply a water-based serum.
- Apply a small amount of oil or waterless care to slightly damp skin.
- When trying new skincare, start with a small amount.
More product does not automatically mean more care. With waterless creams in particular, a small amount is usually enough.
Frequently asked questions
What skincare is suitable for sensitive skin?
That depends on which ingredients you want to use and what your skin currently needs. A clear ingredient list can make selection easier. See our Sensitive Skin collection.
What is better for dry skin: aloe vera or oil?
They do different jobs. A water-based aloe vera serum adds moisture. An oil or waterless cream adds lipids. Depending on your skin's needs, the two can be used one after the other.
Is waterless skincare suitable for dry skin?
Waterless care brings oils, butters or waxes to the skin but very little water. It can therefore be used after a water-based product or on slightly damp skin.
What should I do if my skin reacts to a product?
Stop using the product. If a reaction is strong, persistent or unclear, seek medical advice.
