Today we want to tell you quite openly what's been going on with us these past few weeks. Unfortunately, we had to file for preliminary insolvency at the end of September. Sales simply weren't enough anymore – even though we tried everything until the very end.
Made in Germany - not easy at the moment
As a company that manufactures in Germany, we have felt the intense price pressure in recent months. Many people are now even more careful with every euro. However, we didn't want to compromise on either quality or our values – and that was difficult to sustain economically.
High repurchase rate – sustainable but not profitable
What's more, our products simply last too long. That's wonderfully sustainable, but for a small company like ours, which has hardly any money for large advertising campaigns, it's a real challenge. We depend on our loyal customers – and on your recommendations. And that's exactly what you've done. Many of you found us through friends. That makes us incredibly proud – and we want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
And now?
In October, we fought, calculated, and considered how to move forward. And just before Christmas, we can now say: We're moving forward! 🎉 We've restructured, as they say these days. We've found a partner who will continue the brand with us.
The best part:
- Almost the entire team is staying on board: Clara, Madeleine, Lea, Marc, and Fritz.
Only dear Freya is leaving us during this phase, and we wish her all the best and much success with her upcoming master's thesis! - Our values and impact remain the same.
- Our recipes will remain just as you love them.
- We'll soon have some amazing new products that we've been planning for a long time!
Production will remain in Germany
It's just moving a little further south, to a partner in Bavaria. The reason is simple: our own production was never operating at full capacity, the rent was too high, and sourcing raw materials was too fragmented to achieve good prices. We didn't want to pressure our suppliers on price – and that will remain the case. The good news is that we can take many of our existing partners with us and continue sourcing from them through our new producer. So our supply chain remains almost unchanged.
New products guaranteed!
Our new partner is currently developing some exciting new products that we've been working on for a long time. We'll be able to tell you more in two weeks – stay tuned!
Five wild years
After five wild years, many highs and lows, pandemics, lockdowns and upheavals in the organic industry, we are grateful that it's continuing. We have learned a lot – and most importantly: we get to keep going.
