Why seeds and not trees?

According to studies, species extinction is one of the biggest threats of our time. Because of monocultures, pesticide use and the sealing of land, the habitat for birds, insects and other tiny creatures is shrinking. Wildflower meadows, on the other hand, are a fast, effective and direct way to take a stand against species extinction. Here are a few reasons why we create wildflower meadows.

• Wildflower meadows are protected areas, breeding grounds or refuges for wild animals and plants. The more diverse the meadow, the more species feel at home in a small space.
• They provide food throughout their entire growing season. Many insect species, especially bees and flies, benefit from a colourful wildflower meadow and a long flowering period.
• They act as a buffer zone for ecologically sensitive areas, and the permanent, intensive rooting of the soil reduces the risk of erosion.
• Wildflower meadows also bind CO2, often within a short time (because they grow fast)
• And last but not least: rare species threatened with extinction can be saved this way! Power to the bees!
