Year in Review 2021

Year in review ahead.

We don't need to get too sentimental, but the end of the year is always a good time to reflect on what we've accomplished and where we want to go next. So, here it is:

We have already been able to create 196,286 m² of wildflower meadow with our cosmetics. That's a huge number of flowers and vast areas for bees and insects to find food, shelter and habitat.

More numbers? Our tins were refilled 16,705 times . Thanks to the refills, not only were 534.5 kg of tinplate saved , but also a significant amount of plastic compared to conventional, non-refillable creams.

While our firstborn, the beeswax-based Thumb Treat , is still your favorite, its vegan counterpart is gaining ground. Although the vegan Thumb Treat was added later, 29% of your purchased Thumb Treats are already vegan . There's been some excitement within the team, too.

Things are also happening in our supply chains. As you know, we're gradually working on sourcing our ingredients directly. So far, this has only been possible with beeswax , but good news: we've now succeeded with our olive oil and cocoa butter as well. We now get our organic olive oil from the olive oil farmer Chrys in Greece. We source our cocoa butter from Peru through the cocoa cooperative run by our friends at Elimba. Everything is organic and everything is direct. We have several more things in the pipeline for the new year, but of course, this is a slow process.

Besides our founders, we hired our first two permanent employees ( Nini and Lukas ) this year. To continue producing enough, however, we needed a lot more helping hands. Our team now consists of 13 people.
