Our Naseweiss sunscreen - perfect for van life

Unsere Sonnencreme Naseweiss - Perfekt fürs Vanlife

Traveling from Mexico to Canada – Anne and Anna are driving through North America in their van “Berta” and our SPF50 sunscreen is with them.

They were originally supposed to start in 2020. Then the pandemic hit and thwarted their plans. In November 2021, the two were finally able to set off and shipped their van "Berta" to Mexico.

At the time of the interview, the two had already traveled 10,000 km through Mexico and were currently in the USA. They planned to arrive in Canada by November.

Environmentally conscious van life

Before their big trip, Anne and Anna traveled around Europe. This allowed them to learn what they absolutely needed in their van, what worked well, and what didn't. As preparation for their long journey, they converted their van to be as self-sufficient as possible: they generate their own electricity, including through solar panels. And thanks to the built-in water filters, they can drink water from any source. This means they no longer need to buy bottled water. In general, the two are very mindful of their water consumption. While water flows endlessly from the tap in normal households, it's a noticeably limited resource in their van.

Anna and Anne also considered how they could compensate for their trips with Berta. They decided to offset their tour.

Naseweiss on Tour

While spring is only just beginning in Germany, the two are currently enjoying plenty of sunshine in the USA. Sunscreen is absolutely essential!

Before the trip, they asked themselves: Which sunscreen should we take? Anna generally has fair skin and therefore needs a high SPF. The second criterion for choosing sunscreen was that it had to be safe for aquatic ecosystems. The cenotes in Mexico, for example, are protected. Chemical sunscreens are banned there because they endanger and destroy underwater life.

Therefore, only a mineral sunscreen that protects both skin AND the environment was an option. Naseweiss fulfills both criteria. In addition, it's plastic-free and conveniently packaged. Naseweiss thus made it into my luggage for my trip to North America.

Top tips for a weekend in a van

1: Pack light. It's much more pleasant to travel with light luggage. A few groceries, water, some clothes, and your hiking boots in the camper, and off you go!

2: The wildest roads often lead to the best places.

3: Just enjoy yourself. If something happens, you can always find help from other campers and locals. Everyone sticks together and helps each other out.

And one last important point: Please take your rubbish with you! This will help protect the environment and ensure that the next camper can also enjoy this beautiful spot!
